15 months!!

My baby...I mean little girl will be 15 months old on Friday! Holy cow. Wasn't I just planning a birthday party last week??? Sadly, these last few months have flown by and she is even a bigger girl than she was, and she is sooo smart!!!! She has 18 words, about 4 two word phrases that she uses often, she's trying to put more words together, she can take the "childproof" locks off of the cabinets and she puts them on different cabinets around the house (slightly irritating! :)), she can point to 4 body parts when you ask her, (head, belly, shoulders, and mouth!) she just learned mouth yesterday, she dances, sings, and is just right on schedule with everything else. She is 21 lbs 5 oz (still a tiny little thing!) But, she's tall and the doctor assured me today that her eating was fine (apparently 15 month olds eat only 15 bites of food a day.). Anyway, she took her shots like a champ after about 1 minute of screaming, and we took her to Chik-fil-a (her favorite!) after the doctor appointment. She sleeps good, naps good, and really is pretty pleasant most of the time! I was also very glad to hear that she gets zero shots at her 18 month appointment, then 2 year boosters and that's it until her kindergarten shots. (Just hearing the words Alexis and kindergarten in the same sentence made me nervous! Thankfully I still have 3 more years until she is that big!)So anyway, she is pretty perfect and we are all doing good and mommy feels better now that she's grown a little bit more.

I'm Old-er

Okay, so I'm 25 now. Officially mid- 20's. They are not too bad. My birthday was last Sunday. I've actually forgotten many times that I had a birthday since Sunday. The most recent reminder was last night at open house. A parent asked me how old I was. I automatically responded with 24. " I mean 25...I think...yes 25. I'm sorry my birthday was yesterday, and I keep forgetting I'm a year older." This was my response. Not the best first impression maybe, I mean, I will be teaching his daughter how to count for goodness sakes. But, nonetheless he told me that he understood. Whew! Anyway, my first day of work is tomorrow so I better get some sleep! I know that those 5 year olds will be well rested and excited!!

Thanks Blue!!

Alexis isn't much of a TV watcher. She will only watch The Muppet Show or Sesame Street. However, mommy and daddy were terribly tired of only hearing these cute little monsters/animals voices on the TV. We only let Alexis watch about an hour of TV a day, sometimes she'll get away with a little more, but it's not often. And, it's usually a Cubs game that gets in her extra TV time. However, there is only so much of Jim Henson's work I can take. But finally FINALLY we have found something else that keeps her attention almost as good. Blue's Clues, and I really love Blue's Clues not to mention there are different noises coming out of our television set! Nothing beats those muppets for her, but for me there is a little relief every other day. So thank you Blue for being mildly entertaining for my daughter!!

Happy Anniversary!!

Yay! As of yesterday I have been married for 3 years. Which have felt like 3 months! I can't believe how fast it's gone. If someone would have told me 3 years and 10 months ago that I would be married I would laugh...insanely. But, just when I had given up on marrying in my 20's Michael came along and swept me off my feet! ( And I gave up when I was 21, not so smart) We met the last week of September, started dating in October, engaged in April, and married in August! It was a whirlwind, but it was so worth it. And now, we also have a daughter. God has given me more than I ever could have asked for with these two precious people that came into my life. So the past three years have been wonderful, at times hard, but from the hard times it has only brought us closer, and I wouldn't change a thing. My life has changed dramatically in the past three years. I couldn't ask for more, I feel like I'm a little too blessed, and I can't wait to see what the next 30 years will bring us! Happy Anniversary Michael! I love you!!

Putting Things Away

Tonight I am washing up baby clothes and putting them away to go up into the attic tomorrow. Alexis has way too many clothes ( a whole tote of just newborn clothes!), but all of these clothes come with such sweet memories. I can't believe how tiny these clothes are, and I can't believe even more that they were too big for her! We only had newborn clothes, and she needed to wear preemie clothes for about 3 weeks. I had none. Neither did Wal-Mart or Target or Kohl's.( Apparently, everyone had a baby girl and raided the clothes before I even got out of the hospital...stupid c-section!) So my cousin (who had a baby boy 3 months before I had Lex) came to the rescue with her not as boyish as the others clothes. Of course, no pinks and purples, but lots of yellow and green and I will be forever thankful for her letting me have those clothes. So her NB clothes were huge on her until she was almost a month old. Anyway, I told Michael that I had to have another daughter some day so I could get these clothes out again. They are too precious to spend the rest of their days in a box. But, I'm sure God will give us the children that we need. And it will probably be boys, that's just the way things go for me! If I do have boys next though, maybe one day I will have a little niece that can benefit from these cute outfits. Anyway, this was so not the point of this. So the clothes are too precious and tiny, and it's a little sad putting them all away. The End. Goodnight.

Gas

So today I went to run some errands while Michael was home. I went to clean out the car, get gas, a newspaper, and lunch for myself. I successful cleaned all the junk out of my car, vaccummed, put that sickening sweet cherry fragrance under the seat, and washed the outside of the car. Then I went to Kroger to pick up portable milk for this weekend, off to Sonic for lunch, then to the gas station. (I promise I have a point!!) So, I was pumping gas like I do all the time, flipped the switch on the handle so I wouldn't have to hold it down, paid, and leaned against the car and closed my eyes. All of a sudden I heard a "splish, splish..." sound. I frantically looked all around and to my horror saw gas gushing from my tank. Obviously the handle/pump was broken and did not shut itself off like it's suppose to. I had gas all over my flip flops. (Remember I had just cleaned my car!!) So, I did what anyone in my situation would do. I ran in and bought a paper. Went back to my car, sat down (feet out), kicked off my flip flops, rolled down my window, picked up the flip flops and held them out of the window, backed the car up, chunked the shoes in the trash, and drove home barefoot. I was not about to have my clean car smell like gas. And, I never would have gotten the smell out of the shoes anyway. And I only paid $2.50 for them at Old Navy so I'm not messed up about it. I walked up to the door, with no shoes on, and my arms full to a husband with the funniest look on his face. He asked me what happened and if I was okay. I said yes, and told him my story. Goodness, my life seems to be made much more complicated than it needs to be with stupid stuff like this happening everyday.


And, for those of you that didn't know Michael's Mamaw passed away on Wednesday. The funeral is tomorrow so please keep our family in your prayers.

Kindergarten Camp!

Last week was kindergarten camp. (If you didn't know, I'm teaching K this year!) It is so much different than 3rd grade, but I really think I'm going to like it more. The kids were so sweet, and good. Not that third graders aren't, it's just different. The kids learned school rules, took a tour everyday of somewhere new on campus, and they learned how to do calendar time. Plus, we got to play a lot outside. The weather was pretty good, and the kids had fun getting to know each other. Now, just a couple of weeks, and the real school year begins. I'm also proud to say that I learned probably 90% of all of their names. Hopefully, I will remember them in a few weeks!
