Easter

We had a wonderful Easter, and with Alexis being almost 2 it was a lot of fun. Last year (when she was almost 1) all she was able to do was pick up some Easter eggs off of the floor that Mommy and Daddy colored,and put them in her basket. I think there were 5 eggs.

This year was much different. We decided to spend Easter with my parents, and we arrived at their house Saturday afternoon. Mom was making some mini-cupcakes, and was about to frost them. Alexis and I added the sprinkles, and the table and the applesauce Alexis was eating also got quite a few. Then after dinner we colored eggs, the first thing that happened was Alexis stuck her hand straight in the pink dye. So she had a slightly pink hand for Easter, but after that things went pretty well. Oh,before dinner we also opened our Easter cards from Mawmaw and Pawpaw, and Alexis got some dresses and shoes from them, which were precious, and she modeled each dress, and wore one of the dresses for at least an hour or so before I made her take it off for dinner.


Sunday we went to church, and afterwards there was an Easter Egg hunt for the kiddos, and Alexis got a ton of eggs, mostly filled with gum and jawbreakers (since she can't have any of that she ended up with about 5 pieces of chewy candy that she could eat) Then we went back to my parents house for lunch which was very yummy, and my brother and sister-in-law, and my grandparents came which meant more spoiling for Alexis. At the table Alexis was sitting across from my brother, Danny, and she pointed at him and started screaming " HI DANDY!" Over and over and over again, and since my bro didn't say hi back every single time she said it to him she got louder until he would say hi to her. I bet she said hi to him about 30 times in 5 minutes. It was hilarious! And every time she noticed her Uncle Danny was in the room she would scream "DANDY, HI DANDY!!!". He was very popular that day :). All in all we had a great day, and have some cute pictures which are still on our camera wherever that is. I will try to post them soon.

She Knows What She Wants

After playing outside for an hour tonight it got cold enough that we had to come inside, and after an hour and a half screaming fit earlier, and a LONG day at work, I was not above bribing my nature loving child to come inside. Here's how it went...

"Alexis, it's time to come inside."

"No"

"Come on it's too cold, do you want to watch Tink?"

"No Tink" (A first might I add)

"Do you want Nemo snacks?"

"No thanks."

"Okay, but it's time to go inside."

I went and picked her up and brought her inside.

"Mommy where's Nemo snacks?"

"Mommy where's my Tink T.B.?" (T.B. is T.V. not Tuberculosis)

"Come on Tink come on T.B."

And now I'm watching Tinker Bell because technically I did say it was okay....

Oh and we ate Nemo snacks too. Sheesh,

Gymnastics!!

We have been looking for an activity for Alexis that would be fun, and give her a little exercise and social interaction. We decided that we would try gymnastics. They let you visit a class first to see if your child is really interested or not, and our time was this afternoon. Alexis LOVED it! She had so much fun with all of the exercises, and she was pretty good at most of them too. They had this swing there that you were suppose to hold on to and drop into a pile of soft blocks, and then go down a slide. Well, Alexis didn't have a problem going down the slide, but she couldn't/didn't want to get in the slide to go down. The instructor had to help her in the slide every time, but she had a blast! She also did a forward roll (with the help of Mommy) in front of the whole class. She was so proud of herself, and she clapped for all of the other kids too. Michael and I really loved this class because the parents go through the exercises with their kids (since they are all so little) and the instructor is there to guide the parents, and help with a few of the harder exercises. So, we were both able to participate with her, instead of just getting to watch. They even have evening classes so that we can both be a part of this activity after we get off work. So here are a few pictures of her first day of gymnastics. Now since we know she is going to do this we can shop around for an adorable leotard!!

We had a beautiful day outside. After church and after Alexis' nap, we went to the park to play, because it was like 50 degrees, but it felt like summer! Anyway, we stayed at the overcrowded park for a while,and then we went home and let Alexis ride her bike in the driveway, or actually scoot around on her bike, then we went to the back yard and played for two hours. All in all we were outside for about 3 hours, and she still cried when we came in. It was just nice being able to relax outside with my beautiful family, and gear up before this crazy and busy week starts. Hopefully, I will have some more interesting and good updates by the end of it. :)

Breaking Away...Slowly

When Alexis turned 18 months old she became a different child in many ways. She got incredibly clingy, and the terrible two's set in with a vengeance. Yelling, throwing, hitting, and the worst, banging her head on the floor. She wouldn't behave in church, and she most definitely wouldn't go to class on her own. She wanted me to stay in there with her. I blame this also on the fact that we had switched churches, and Mommy was a little nervous about putting her in class with people she didn't know. Anyway, we started going to ladies bible class on Tuesdays, which was for two hours and she cried the whole two hours the first time. Then she cried off and on. At Wednesday night class she cried the whole time, and then she started crying on and off after a few weeks. Now, she will only cry while she sees me (to try to get me to stay, faker!), and she stayed the whole time with no tears, last Sunday she went to Children's Church and class with no tears. In fact, I went to check on her in between church and class, and she barely knew I was there. I walked in and she said, "Hi, Mommy!" Then she started playing with her new friends, and talking to the other moms that were in there, and she wasn't too concerned with me. I told her bye when I went to class, but I don't think she heard me. :) I'm glad that it seems that we are starting to get out of this stage. It will make things a lot easier on all of us.

This is CRAZY!!!!!

Well, after our last snow storm I was ready for spring. I'm ready for flip flops, shorts, and the sun. I'm ready to go to the park to play, and fly kites, and everything else that comes with spring. This morning I woke up to 2-3 inches of snow. *Sigh* It kinda started snowing/sleeting for about an hour, and then the heavens opened up! It has been snowing huge flakes for about two hours and it's coming down hard! I checked about an hour ago and we had 4 inches. It's been snowing even harder since, so there's no telling how much we have now. They have predicted 10-15 inches of snow for us. We were suppose to have a doctor appointment for Lex today, but when we got there it was closed. So, when we got home Michael made a rather large snowman. It took a bunch of our front yard snow, and took up the grass. Now you can't even tell that we used any snow! Also, the snowman fell over, but when we brought Alexis inside she started bawling and yelling " noman...noman...noman!" It took me 30 minutes and Tinker Bell to calm her down. It's insane at how much snow is out side right now.When Alexis wakes up from her nap we are going to go outside to play. I hope she can walk in it! And while this is not considered a huge snow storm up north, for us Arkansans...it's a blizzard!

Big Girl!!

Recently after fear of Alexis toppling out over the side of her crib we carefully weighed the options of putting her in her big girl bed about 4 months sooner than we originally planned. I was more afraid of her getting up out of her big girl bed and having hysterical fits once I shut the door, but after measuring, reading, and more measuring we decided that it was just too dangerous to leave her in the crib. So out came the huge box of big girl furniture and we put together her new bed, which is of course Tinker Bell. I was dreading the first night in her new bed because I just knew she was going to be up and down all night.I thought it would be worse than when she was a brand new baby because now she can talk.And she was really always a good sleeper. Anyway, So we tucked her in (sorta) and shut the door. And....off she slept the whole night! WOOHOO!!I woke up before she did (which is rare), and laid in bed thinking about how wonderful my daughter's sleeping habits were. But, I was also aware that nap time may be a different story. It wasn't thankfully! She slept her whole nap in her bed! She's had a pretty easy time transitioning into being a big girl. She thought it was the most fun thing ever when we were putting her bed together, and she ran and played in it for about a half an hour before we finally got her settled down enough to go to bed. I asked her that now that she was a big girl could we give the baby bed to a little brother or sister someday. She promptly answered "NO!!!!!". Well, thankfully we're not expecting another baby anytime soon. She may have some jealousy problems. :)She has gotten out of her bed a few times when she wasn't quite ready to take a nap yet. But, she just played with Tink's Cafe, and then put herself back in her bed, covered up, and took a nice long nap! We are so blessed!!! I hope ALL of our children's sleeping habits are this wonderful!I will post some pics later, and there's a video of Alexis playing in her new bed on our you tube stream...or whatever it's called.
